Joseph A. LeGrand Jr.

Savanah joined the LeGrand Associates team in December of 2018. Before this, she served as program coordinator for a local non-profit, providing educational and natural resources to children in Lewistown Pennsylvania. She has been drawing and painting all of her life; a selection of her pieces was published in the Sentinel and Tyrian newspapers and shown in the East End Gallery. Savanah has always valued supporting local, small, artisanal businesses and has used many of her works to raise funds in her small community. Portraits have always been her favorite subject. Unwilling to forfeit her passion for art, after discovering ocularistry she knew immediately that it was right for her.

Savanah began her five-year internship with David LeGrand in Chesapeake, VA to learn the fundamentals of eye-making. A year later she transferred to Philadelphia and continued refining her skills under the supervision of Joseph LeGrand Jr. and the guidance of Susan Frost.

Savanah received the Joseph LeGrand Sr. Award given annually to an outstanding intern in the College of Ocularistry, and the Don Kluge Sr. Memorial scholarship in 2023, both distinguished honors granted from the American Society of Ocularists. She completed her internship in 2024. Volunteering for the International Children’s Anophthalmia Network is a favorite pastime for her and she looks forward to contributing again at future conferences. She has participated in anophthalmic/microphthalmic clinics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, collaborating with the oculoplastic team, and enjoys working with patients of all ages. When Savanah is not at the office, she loves to cook for loved ones, and appreciate the arts and nature.

"Joe LeGrand was great! He was very patient with my 10 month old who needs two prosthetics. She didn't cry once and they came out great! People don't even question they actually compliment how nice her eyes are while we're out and about lol I would recommend him to anyone!"

- Kiara Scott

"When we started our journey with Arrayah, our little “Ray of Hope”, we didn’t know what we would get to experience. A year into our cancer journey we found out that she was going to have to have her eye removed. After asking who we might consider working with, it was suggested that we talk with LeGrand Associates and Joseph LeGrand. When we met Joe for the first time, soon after our daughter lost her right eye, we found him to be very understanding and he did a great job of matching a very complicated blue. He also was a great help in training us in the process of removing the prosthesis as well as placing the prosthesis in the socket. Not only does he do excellent work, but he’s also compassionate and tender as he works with our child. The process of taking the prosthesis out and placing it back in the socket can be scary for a child, but we have always been impressed with how well he helps it to not be scary for our daughter."

- Ashley, father of Arrayah

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for spending the time you did with me. I finally feel good about myself. You are a true professional and a wonderful person. I can’t say enough."
